Then make it shine with furniture polish and a lint-free cloth, rubbing along the grain to leave a nice shine. If your kids have left a few dings or gouges, this is a good time to fix scratches in your wood furniture, too. If it does, follow these steps to remove sticky buildup on wood. Run your hand over the flat surfaces of your wood furniture to see if it feels gummy. Rinse your cloth now and then, and switch to a fresh one when it starts looking dirty. It’s best to use a lightly damp cloth, since dry cloths don’t hold onto dust the way damp ones do. Turn off lamps before you clean your lampshades and wipe the bulbs while they’re cool.
